皇家墨尔本理工大学(RMIT)时装系是澳大利亚最大最著名的时装方面的高等学府，学校的课程从服装鞋帽的裁剪、面料、设计到制作加工、展览，从大专、本科到硕士，可谓一应俱全，该大学的毕业生得过很多国际大奖，有的曾经为象《红磨坊》、《猫女》等很多著名好莱坞大片的提供服装设计，也有的自己开创服装品牌公司，几乎所有澳大利亚著名的服装公司都有RMIT大学的毕业生。

墨尔本时装节是澳大利亚最主要的时装盛会，每年2月举行，本届时装节组委会特别聘请了RMIT大学的时装系主任凯伦.纬博斯特担任总负责人。
RMIT fashion head appointed festival director
RMIT University’s fashion head Karen Webster is named director of the Melbourne Fashion Festival.

RMIT University’s head of fashion, Karen Webster, is thrilled with her appointment as director of the Melbourne Fashion Festival.
Ms Webster, who has been involved at RMIT fashion for 14 years, will be on secondment from the university for three years to the festival, where she replaces Gary Chard, who was the creative director for one year.
After nine years on the festival board, Ms Webster has played an important role in staging Melbourne’s major fashion event.
“I feel most privileged to take on this prestigious role and am keen to promote the exceptional fashion talent that Melbourne has to offer,” Ms Webster said.
She said she was passionate about the festival and looked forward to taking it forward.
Ms Webster will take on the new position from June.
Next year’s fashion festival will be held in February.
