The victim, believed to be 22-year-old Jiao Dan, from Changsha, China had moved to WA earlier this year to study at Edith Cowan University.
Stirling Det-Sen. Sgt Paul Boult yesterday said the death was being treated as suspicious as she appeared to have sustained some injuries.
Police spokesman Ian Hasleby today said she suffered facial injuries and was found naked from the waist down but that the cause of death is yet to be confirmed.
He said post-mortem would be conducted in the next day or two.
A back pack and folded items of clothing were found close to Miss Dan's body.
It is believed she had failed to return from her cleaning job in the city on Monday night.
Friends said she usually caught the train to Stirling and then walked the 1km home.
Police investigating her death hope security footage from Stirling station will shed more light on her last movements.
Detectives yesterday spoke to the five occupants of the house where she was found.
All were released without charge.
Police also door-knocked neighbours surrounding the Oswald Street site.Det-Sen.
Sgt Boult said the forensic investigation was concentrating on the area around the body.
No other crime scenes have been established.
